LET US ADVANCE OUR LIBERATION STRUGGLE

It is now a year since the police massacre of demonstrators in Soweto which triggered off the greatest mass upsurge against the white fascist state in recent times. Thousands of our heroic sons and daughters paid a dreadful price for their defiant stand against the brutal terror regime. Their deaths have not been in vain for they have made us more determined and have strengthened our resolve to smash the apartheid monster. We have convincingly shown Vorster that 28 years of ruthless application of the laws of apartheid have failed completely to secure our co-operation and submission.

Vorster in his turn as shown us that his trained killers have not the slightest restraint in gunning down innocent bystanders, including women and children. We have learnt too that spontaneous uprisings alone cannot destroy the enemy and that future actions must be linked with the broad strategy of our liberation movement headed by the African National Congress of South Africa. The liberation movement, through Umkhonto we Sizwe, the armed wing of the ANC, has as its immediate task the launching of armed struggle in South Africa.

Brothers and Sisters! We must organise now for the armed struggle which will liberate our people. We must not simply take to the streets, where gunmen can pick off our organisers, and where informers can betray our leaders.

In the mines and factories we must organise secret groups that will attack when the moment is right, through strikes, through sabotage, or other tasks which the liberation movement will call upon the people to undertake. In the townships we must expose the sell-outs who look to government stooges as their leaders. We must learn to distinguish our true leaders from those who opportunistically use government-created institutions and bodies for their own ends. Above all, we must see that many so-called critics of apartheid state are being used by the fascists to give the illusion of democracy to the outside world as well as to people inside the country who are easily fooled by these tricks. We know what happens to our true leaders when the state gets hold of them - if they are lucky they are sent to jail. If they are not lucky they are sent to the mortuary.

FORWARD TO THE ARMED LIBERATION OF SOUTH AFRICA! POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
